Ashleen Williams in currently a Barksdale Fellow at the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi. At the SMBHC, she teaches freshmen seminars (honors 101, 102), Issues in Peace and Conflict Studies, Religion and Politics of the Gulf, and GCC Security and Politics after the 2003 cold war.
Ashleen was previously a research assistant at the Center for Gulf Studies at Qatar University in politics and security. Prior to joining Gulf Studies, she was a Georgetown Qatar Fellow in the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers program at Qatar University. Ashleen completed her Masters in Applied Peace and Conflict studies at INCORE (University of Ulster) in L/Derry, Northern Ireland where she was a George J. Mitchell Scholar. Her dissertation focused on political contestation of space in Bahrain based on work completed during her Fulbright student experience in 2011-2012.
Ashleen is a dedicated Montana Griz fan, and wanderer. Planes, trains, and buses have taken her to 47 countries in approximately eight years. She lives with her partner and dog, Boomer, who remain unamused by her burning daylight attitude.
